Once you've completed treatment Powell Orthodontics, we will provide you with retainers. Retainers are designed to hold teeth in their corrected positions until the bones and gums adapt to treatment changes. They provide stabilization and insure that your treatment changes last a lifetime.
Here are some things to remember when you receive your retainers:
Wear Them! They are only effective if they are in your mouth. Retainers should be worn all the time except when eating or playing contact sports.
Keep Them Clean! Clean all parts of the retainer with your toothbrush and toothpaste. Soak in denture cleaner as needed. It is not necessary to soak your retainer in water when not wearing. Do not boil the retainer to clean.
Handle Them With Care! Retainers are easier to lose than our think. Always place them in your retainer case for safety. Please keep them away from pets and small children. They are expensive to replace. If a retainer becomes lost or broken or does not fit properly please call our office.

Yes, it is, and that’s part of what makes it work, says Dr. Powell. To find out if you are the right candidate for Invisalign treatment, the first thing we do is to take an impression of your teeth as they are now and digitize it. Using special software, we look at the current positioning of your teeth and compare it to the way your teeth should look.
Next we use special software to map out the exact path your teeth will take from the beginning of your treatment to the end. Based on the results, a set of custom aligners are created just for your teeth. Throughout the course of treatment, you will be required to wear these clear, removable aligners one at a time; each one moving your teeth closer and closer to their final, perfectly aligned position. The best thing about it all? Nobody around you will even know you are wearing braces!
Dr. Mark Powell is a certified Invisalign provider. If you have questions about Invisalign, or would like to find out if you are a candidate for Invisalign treatment, please give us a call.
